Devinez's paintings are statements. Sometimes short and quiet, like a whisper, and sometimes as elaborate as a speech.

The paintings speak here about human emotions, the psyche...
About what we fear, what we don't acknowledge, what we repress, or what we refuse to acknowledge.

About events and circumstances, both contemporary and recorded in history, that have a real impact on people.
About the strength and power of the human mind and emotions. In both aspects—positive, as it grows, develops, and improves, and negative, as it grows, develops, and destroys.

About the affects that drive people to take action, as well as the long-term processes that gradually consolidate change...

These themes resonate most strongly in the series of non-figurative works, commonly referred to as abstractions.

The form of painting changes, but it invariably touches upon the inner experiences of man and the condition of his soul.

The series of landscapes and views of the cosmos, in turn, serves as a reminder that humans are not alone here—and that their agency has its limits.

The power of nature remains stronger than attempts to subjugate, modify, or destroy it. We have no control over the atmosphere, we cannot stop the wind or the passage of time.

The power of the elements—when the storm comes, when fire devours, when the earth cracks, humans face their own fragility and helplessness.

"Painting" perversely refers to pain, but also carries a hint of hope.

Views dominated by heavy, dark clouds almost always contain light. Its breakthrough becomes a symbol of the element of life, the inner desire for peace and balance, present—to a greater or lesser extent—in every soul.

Sometimes it's the will to fight. Clouds are a symbol of constant movement and change.

Fire, although it destroys, can also be a sign of purification.

Devinez in its construction brings to mind one of the French words for: guess, surmise. Each time, it forces you to think. To interpret and decipher the message for yourself, to look at yourself in these images, as if in mirrors.
